Our mission is to investigate and validate graphology with an objective scientific approach in order to distinguish between useful and obsolete parts. There had been numerous studies, mainly performed by psychologists, aiming to find evidence against graphologists’ claims as a valid method to analyze the personality. Working together in an interdisciplinary network (IVHA) our ambition is to proof the opposite by pulling together strings in long-term project activities to attain a coherent scientific basis which will be recognised and accepted by the academic community.
By implementing the following strategies we will achieve our research objectives:
Requirements: Research handwriting analysis with regard to the standard requirements of psycho-diagnostic methods which are objectivity, reliability and validity.
Scientific Background: Verify and develop the scientific background for handwriting analysis that is handwriting signs, psychological features (traits) and the relations between them.
Expert Judgment: Research on handwriting analysis often suffers from a lack of expert judgment. To measure and properly evaluate handwriting signs a lot of knowledge and expertise is necessary. Therefore an interdisciplinary approach is mandatory.
Adaptation of handwriting analysis to the changing life conditions and new social developments in modern societies.
Interfaces: Handwriting analysis as a method of psychological analysis should be combined with other methods to accomplish more reliable results. Therefore building interfaces to related psychological disciplines is absolutely necessary .
Publicity: Release to both academic and general public the latest achievements in handwriting analysis which are based on new scientific and technological methods; improve the image of handwriting analysis.
